Long-standing rooftop eatery Galvin Brothers at the London Hilton on Park Lane will be replaced after 18 years by a Halal-friendly restaurant, FtLion can reveal.

Shanghai Me will be making its UK debut this month, with a representative having informed FtLion: “I can confirm that we only offer Halal food at Shanghai Me.”

With doors on the 28th floor scheduled to open on Monday 21 July, the restaurant’s interior looks quite the part boasting a 1930’s Shanghai design concept.

Although alcohol will be served, Pan-Asian concept Shanghai Me says it “intertwines the vibrant essence of Oriental and Chinese flavours with the artistry of Japanese techniques”.

With sites in Dubai and Doha, and a third to open soon in Monaco, it appears that the Dubai hospitality group Fundamental Hospitality will be serving up a similar high-end experience in the capital.

While signature dishes confirmed include Yellowtail Carpaccio with Black Truffle, Cantonese Style Roast Duck with Foie Gras & Caviar, Spicy Bluefin Tuna Oshizushi, and Braised Beef Short Rib Shanghai Style, a dim sum “library” will also be a significant feature.
