A Michelin-trained chef will be taking over the kitchen of a Halal Anatolian restaurant in North East London.

Skewd Kitchen in Cockfosters has appointed Tim dela Cruz as its new head chef this week.

Originally from the Philippines, dela Cruz has worked as head chef in a number of top central London restaurants.

In 2015, not only was the Manilla-born cooking maestro sous chef at Bonnie Gull, a seafood restaurant in Capital’s Fitzrovia, but also featured on the BBC’s premier cooking show MasterChef: The Professionals.

Dela Cruz says he hopes to bring the colourful and diverse variety and flavour of the Asian cuisine to Skewd Kitchen.

“I am very pleased to join Skewd Kitchen. They have achieved great things with Maz. I look forward in working with him and the team to create amazing dishes,” he said.

Owner and Executive Chef, Maz Demir, who won this year’s British Kebab Awards Chef of the Year as well as Best Young Chef in 2015, said he was “delighted” to have Tim on board.

“He is an excellent chef with amazing passion and experience in the trade. His brilliant talent will add flair to our kitchen. We will produce great dishes together,” he said.

FtL reviewed Skewd Kitchen in May (see here) declaring it to be an “ambitious and innovative” restaurant.
