Viral Halal tiramisu by Layr ends Manchester Food Tour
SPONSORED CONTENT HALAL STATUS Fully HalalWe rounded off our food tour of Manchester with a visit to the city’s very first hole-in-the-wall tiramisu brand in Ancoats.
Located on Radium Street, Layr have received rave reviews for their alcohol-free, Halal tiramisu since opening earlier this year.
While closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, they open at 4pm everyday thereafter with three main flavours: Classic, Pistachio, and Matcha.
Their most popular is the Pistachio, which has espresso-soaked sponge covered in pistachio mascarpone cream, and finished with a layer of crushed pistachio nuts.
With vanilla-flavoured cream used for the other two flavours, a dusting of matcha or cocoa essentially accounts for the difference between them.
Otherwise, the sponges, while boasting a moist texture, were beautifully saturated with espresso such that every spoonful carried the unmistakable aroma of the brewed coffee.
They keeps things innovative too with monthly specials available during the weekend that have included Salted Caramel, Eton Mess, and Dark Chocolate Biscoff.
What’s more, not only can they arrange for gluten free versions on request (DM them via Instagram), but their desserts are also available for delivery through Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
Given the quality of their product, and the fact that Halal tiramisu is only ever served at select restaurants, we can understand why Layr is as popular as it is.
