Japanese at Yaki Ya! in Finchley & Brisk It in Uxbridge London
By Aku Fu
Boy was I fancying some Japanese last week, and since I was in and around north London, I remembered fully Halal Yaki Ya! and so went visiting.
Unless it’s a Sunday with parking available virtually outside, I’d recommend planning ahead (FtLion review 4.5/5).
The place itself has enough seating; so after scanning the menu, it turned out to be a toss between a classic ramen and a teriyaki rice bowl.
Being a sucker for duck, as soon as I saw they did a Duck Teriyaki Bowl, I put my order in pronto and took my seat.
After a fair wait (a good sign, of course), this hefty bowl arrives topped to the brim with plenty of roasted duck and covered in a heady teriyaki sauce.
With plenty of stir fried vegetables, spring onions, and sesame seeds to boot, as well as runny ramen egg, this was more than I could have asked for; flavourful and delicious, and easily worth the £16.99 price tag.
A few days later, I was informed of a new briskit and burger joint on the edges of Uxbridge Town Centre.
Located on Windsor Street and also fully Halal, this place only opened two months ago, and has sufficient indoor seating.
With no knowledge of how good things would be, my friend and I decided to play it safe and ordered a simple portion of Brisk Fully Loaded Fries for £13.
What we got was thick and crispy chips topped with mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, onions, spring onions, house ranch, Brisk sauce, and jalapenos.
Although not the best brisket I’ve ever had, it was decent, with the combination satisfying, and nicely washed down with their Homemade Lemon Drink.
Needless to say, I’ll be visiting again soon to try their more substantial items such as their Brisk It boxes and burgers.
