The guys behind the popular Indian street food restaurant Chai Naasto have launched a sister site in west London that’s introduced “a never-before-seen menu”.

Situated on the happening stretch of Northfields Avenue, Patri offers a fully Halal food menu whose meat has been sourced from a local Halal butcher.

While there is an alcohol bar located in a relatively small square space, we’ve been informed that they’re “in the process of getting a supply of Halal wines directly from Spain”.

Given that Patri means railway tracks in Hindi, the menu aims at taking diners on a journey from New Delhi Station in the capital of India to Marwar Junction in Jodhpur (remember Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Man Who Would Be King’), the second largest city of Rajasthan.

Since the former is heavily influenced by Mughali cuisine, expect to find dishes like Nawabi Seekh Kebab, as well as Old Delhi Pani Puri Bombs and Gol Guppa Chat.

As for the latter, then there’s gamey meat dishes made with spicy marination that include Shahi Laal Maas of slowed cooked tender lamb, Sukha Mohan Maas of select pieces of chicken topped with cashew nut paste, and Paan Patte Ke Chaat.

Otherwise, there’s a trio of more substantial meals they call Train Specials that’s designed for two:

  • The Railway Mix Grill – Half Tandoori Chicken, One Lamb Seekh Kebab, Two Malai Tikkas, and Two Paneer Tikkas.
  • The Platform Mix Grill – Bhel Mix, Aloo Samosas, Chat Bombs,Kachori, Paneer Tikka, Haraba Bhara Kebab, and Paan Patte Chaat.
  • Chef’s Special Thali of the Day – A complete meal as served on Indian trains.
