Freddy’s chicken beat Popeyes, KFC, Morley’s in London Croydon
SPONSORED CONTENT HALAL STATUS Fully HalalÂAfter an exciting head-to-head between four of Croydon’s leading chicken brands, Freddy’s in Norwood Green didn’t so much triumph as smash the competition.
Not only did Freddy’s outshine KFC in the first round, but after Popeyes Louisiana Chicken left Morley’s in the dirt, Freddy’s trumped the mighty US brand in the finals.
Having opened earlier this year on the High Street opposite South Norwood clock tower, Freddy’s has raised the stakes with a formidable chicken range.
This elegantly designed, spacious restaurant revolves around a red, black and white colour scheme with seating available for 24 diners.
But what really sets this place apart from all the others is its commitment to quality ingredients, with no short cuts in sight.
A look at their inventory reveals premium brands like Heinz Baked Beans, cans of Del Monte pineapples, Carnation evaporated milk, and Basmati rice to name but a few.
The result is a fully Halal menu that doesn’t just offer eight chicken burgers, which includes the popular spicy dipped variety, but also an impressive half-a-dozen smashed beef burgers, a Dirty Menu, as well as Desserts and a Kids Menu.
Freddy’s took on Popeyes, KFC & Morley’s & beat em all…
If there’s one item that sums up why Freddy’s is the best chicken place in Croydon, it has to be their Five Chicken Roulette.
After all, which other restaurant offers a combination of flavours as unique as Garlic Parmesan, Pineapple & Habanero, Honey Lemon Pepper, Rainbow, Louisiana BBQ, and Hot Buffalo?
Add to that the uber crispy breaded exterior of their tenders and wings, and this Five Chicken Roulette is a dangerously addictive concept worth travelling for alone.
Of course, when you have such incredible sauces as your foundation, then everything else will turn out to be a foregone conclusion.
As such, their beautifully based Buffalo Ranch Burger, that’s topped with fresh house coleslaw and pickles, is a chicken burger that smacks.
The same is true of the mind-blowingly good Louisiana BBQ which, after being dipped in sticky Honey BBQ, is enhanced with lettuce, grilled onions and cheese.
You then have their innovative Dirty Menu which, given Freddy’s use of quality ingredients, helps this brand stand out from the crowd.
With four different bowls to consider – Mac and Cheese Smash, Mac and Cheese Tenders, Dirty Fries, and a Dirty Rice Box – their most popular is unsurprisingly the Mac & Cheese.
The interplay between the zingy heat of the buffalo sauce and cooling effect of the ranch sauce will have your taste-buds dancing in delight, with the mac and cheese perfectly creamy and piquant.
But if you thought that Freddy’s is all about the phenomenal chicken, then think again, because they know how to make some serious smashed beef burgers.
Just take their Double Smash that’s elevated by plenty of melted cheese, pickles, Freddy’s burger sauce, and crispy onions that all culminate into a deliciously juicy sandwich.
If you’re looking for something even more serious, then, behold, The 4Stacker, which doubles-up to combine four utterly succulent beef patties that are glistening in copious layers of cheese, loads of grilled onions, and that signature sauce.
As can be seen, Freddy’s in South Norwood is not your ordinary burger joint. These guys have put some serious thought into bringing this brand to fruition, and one that needs to be visited in a hurry to experience the hype.
