A Turkish restaurant in Milton Keynes has been threatened with deportation by a senior member of UKIP.

The party’s chairman Ben Walker posted the threat earlier today on X with an image showing a portion of a menu with the subheading “From the River to the Sea”.

“I won’t name the restaurant but, if you are a Turkish restaurant in Kingston, Milton Keynes You’re going to be going home,” he warned.

Having tagged UKIP’s leader Nick Tenconi before hash-tagging “#massdeportations”, the post has since been shared over 700 times and garnered over 500 comments.

While the majority of the comments have unsurprisingly been negative, with a number calling for the place to be named and shamed, there were some supporters such as Richard O who said: “Name it so I can visit and tip generously. Thanks xo”.

The restaurant being threatened was later named as Gunaydin at the Kingston Centre on Winchester Circle, which first opened in 2022.

Specialising in Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine, the restaurant’s fully Halal menu, which is available on its website, has a number of quirky menu subtitles, such as ‘In the beginning’, ‘Let’s get warmed up’, and ‘From the field’.

The expression ‘From the river to the sea’ is taken from the political slogan ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’, which is said to reference land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, and has been used in support of the Palestinian struggle for self determination.
