Mother Hubbard’s serves Leicester Halal fish & chips today

Leicester will have the opportunity today of trying HMC-certified Halal fish & chips courtesy of long established Mother Hubbard’s.
Launching at 11am on the busy stretch of London Road, this 24-cover restaurant will be serving up the nation’s former national dish along with a variety of other items.
The brightly lit restaurant is paying homage to the history of its local community with black and white stills of landmarks and streets decorating the walls.
Of course in addition to the obvious, the menu has a wide range of Classics that include Chip Butty, Fish Cake, Scollop, Haddock, among other things.
At Mother Hubbard’s we are passionate about great tasting food. We only use the finest Icelandic haddock and British potatoes to produce the crispiest battered fish and golden chips.
They do a range of pies too such as steak, chicken and mushroom, beef and onion, cheese and onion, and even the desi-option of keema or mince.
Specials on offer are Scampi, Onion Rings, and a range of Sausages, along with a variety of toppings for chips that include Cheesy Chips, Curry Sauce and Chips, and Mushy Peas and chips.
The franchise began way back in 1972 when it opened its first branch in Bradford in 1972 and says it’s “a brand name that is synced with traditional ‘famous’ fish and chips”.
Since then, it has branched out across England with venues in Bradford, Oldham, Swaffham, Scarborough, Huddersfield, Halifax, Leeds, Batley and Wakefield.
And Mother Hubbard’s isn’t done quite yet with locations planned for Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham and Coventry “coming soon”.
