Pasha Shawarma coal-fired rotisseries in London Willesden
By Muhammad Aziz
HALAL STATUS Fully HalalI’ve visited Pasha Shawarma a number of times since it first opened earlier this year in London’s Willesden Green.
This is a family-run Turkish restaurant on Walm Lane has acquired quite the reputation for cooking its shawarma using a coal-based rotisserie.
While I can only assume that the reason why you won’t find other places operating with a similar setup is because of the time it would take to maintain and clean it, the end result is undeniable.
What is more, I do not know of any other Turkish shawarma place in London, or beyond for that matter, that has a self-service kiosk.
And though the weather isn’t as it was a few weeks ago (welcome to climate change folks), they have seating available both indoors and out.
With no alcohol in sight, this place is fully Halal, clean, and therefore a good place to bring your family for a quick bite.
I was here for their formidable shawarma naan wraps which, although a little expensive given that the new trend is around £3/4 for a shawarma in town, was plenty good.
If I were to have a criticism, it wouldn’t be with the taste, which was delicious, but the quantity. In my view, there needs be at least 30% more meat.
Another criticism, which might be a major one for some, but for me it’s more a case of throwing it out there, which is that the bread being used is from a packet.
Aside from this, when it comes down to taste and texture of the meats alone, then it’s a straight up 5/5.
You then have the fresh vegetables and the inhouse sauces that doesn’t just include their Pasha Special but also a really good Sweet Chilli.
So, yeah, that’s the reason why Pasha Shawarma has increasingly become my go-to Turkish place for a doner fix.
