Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen makes its Leicester debut

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen celebrated the launch of debut restaurant in Leicester recently with plans of launching a drive-thru next year.
Located in Gallowtree Gate, this is the US fried chicken quick-service brand’s 11th UK store to date.
Having recently announced that drive-thrus will be part of its future plans, the business has also secured a drive-thru site at the Barrhead Retail Park in Glasgow, according to Propel.
In fact, the brand is reportedly said to have applied to open drive-thru sites at the Riverside Retail Park in Nottingham, the Boldon Leisure Park in Tyneside, Woodbury Park near Bere Regis, and Sixfields in Northampton
Founded in 1972 by Al Copeland in Louisiana, USA, the international brand now boasts over 2,700 restaurants, with all of its venues in the UK offering a fully Halal food menu.
“Sourcing UK Sourced, Red Tractor chicken”, the brand’s website states: “Everyone is welcome at our table. All of our chicken is Halal and we have certification from the Halal Monitoring Board.”
But FtLion has been informed that Popeyes breakfast menu is not Halal, with a representative clarifying: “We don’t serve chicken at breakfast, but our chicken served with our daytime menu remains Halal.”
