A Halal-friendly Indian casual dining restaurant has opened in south London’s Croydon with “all your favourite and forgotten Indian dishes”.

Located on St. James’s Road, Tindli is a 40-cover venue with a menu created by Chef Manoj Karnavar that’s showcasing dishes from across the regions of India.

More importantly, while alcohol is served on the premises, Tindli has said: “We can confirm that we serve Halal meat to the customer,” with no non-Halal items on the menu and no alcohol used as an ingredient.

A range of classic street food dishes make up their starter section including Mumbai’s Vada Pav sandwich along with Southern India’s classic Chicken or Cauliflower 65 and the Squid Varuval.

Varuval Ularthiyathu, or spicy dry pan-roasted dishes, are also featured in their mains with Crispy Tofu Tawa Fry, Spicy Tawa Machi, as well as Lamb Ularthiyathu.

While the Chef’s Special includes a trio of Biryanis ranging from the Jackfruit & Veggie to your Chicken or Lamb, there’s also Tindl’s Specials of Fish Pakora, and a Spicy Chicken Burger that’s been designated the Chef’s Special.

According to his Youtube channel, Chef Karnavar has over 25 years of culinary experience, is “known for his creative twist on authentic Indian, European, Japanese and Arabic foods”, and has worked at “leading five star hotels like Claridges London, Savoy London, Mandarin Oriental London, Marriott Mumbai, Renaissance Goa – just to name a few”.
