Bobo Social are a real hidden gem in Ealing Broadway London

When the term ‘hidden gem’ is used judiciously, it usually denotes a unique restaurant of exceptional quality that deserves to be more widely known.

Well Bobo Social in west London is just one of those hidden gems that requires being visited as a matter of priority for some seriously good food.

After launching in Fitzrovia’s Charlotte Street 11 years ago, the brand moved to Elephant & Castle in 2019, before relocating just a 5 minutes’ walk from Ealing Broadway station in the Filmworks Walk area.

This huge 120-cover (150 standing) restaurant offers an eclectic menu that focuses on modern British and European cuisine, which includes premium steaks and old-school burgers.

While their Brunch menu is not Halal, their A La Carte menu predominantly is, apart from the Braised Lamb Croquettes, Miso Salmon, Crispy Beer Battered Haddock, and the Chimichurri and the Peppercorn sauces.

Otherwise, there’s a stunning array of items that include Fillet or Ribeye Steaks, Crispy Shredded Duck Salad, Mushroom & Truffle Linguine, Korean Bao Buns, and more.

Old-school burgers & dishes unique to Ealing

Bobo Social’s spectacular menu has items you simply will not find elsewhere in Ealing, starting with these attractively presented King Scallops from their ‘Sharing Plates & Starters’ section.

After enjoying these beautifully tender, pan fried scallops that are drizzled in a mellow Nam Jim Dressing, another mollusc dish that is not to be missed is their Chilli Salt Squid.

With the batter fried to a light and crispy finish, these come with a zingy lemon aioli, which helps to dampen the heat delivered by the freshly cut slithers of red chilli popped on top.

And this Mexican-inspired Chicken Taco below is yet another example of Bobo Social seeking to standing out from the crowd with their all-round menu.

Here we have a thin and lightly toasted taco topped with a generous amount of succulent poultry that’s covered in a vibrantly fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, and sriracha mayo.

Bobo’s eclectic theme is similarly reflected in the diverse selection of dishes offered in their Mains, as exemplified by this deliciously comforting Mushroom & Truffle Linguine.

Every strand in this rich plate of pasta is covered in a shallot cream mixed with chopped Portobello and Shittake mushrooms, and finished with parmesan, freshly shaved truffle, and rocket salad to ensure pure pleasure with every bite.

If Bobo Social is known for anything since arriving on the scene in west London, it’s their carefully-crafted trio of classic burgers comprising of hand-pressed beef patties, which, of course, are hard to come by these days.

While this alone is worth the price of admission, when a restaurant also confidently stamps its logo on top of its “organic” brioche buns, you better believe that they believe in theirs.

And for good reason too, because their signature Bobo Classic Burger for £18.95 houses a gorgeously thick and juicy, single breed beef patty, which, in spite of the condiments that include an inhouse Bobo Sauce, is sufficient in doing all the talking.

They also offer a pair of are “home-counties reared” steaks – a ribeye and a fillet – that come with skin-on chips, and whose beefy goodness is enhanced by the addition of the Truffle Butter.

Perfectly executed to a medium finish, this utterly tender piece of meat, which boasts the most spectacular charring and an even sexier pink interior, demands being paired with anyone of their freshly-made zesty mocktails.

It should go without saying that, given the uniqueness of the items presented so far, Bobo Social’s desserts does not pale in comparison.

Both the decadent Chocolate & Orange Torte, and the creamy Basque Burnt Cheesecake – the latter lightly scorched and coming with rich strawberry coulis – require a cup of cappuccino to complete a memorable visit to Bobo Social.
