Multi-award winning Bleecker in London now cater for Halal
SPONSORED CONTENT HALAL STATUS Halal options • Alcohol & pork servedThe news that a multi-award winning burger brand in London had gone Halal-friendly earlier this year went viral among Muslim foodies.
Their reaction was entirely justified, since the restaurant that is now catering for Halal (see certification) is none other than National Burger of the Year winners 2020 and 2024, Bleecker.
Having won this prestigious award for a second time last year, Bleecker are now serving Halal beef at two of their seven branches in the capital, Westfield White City and Baker Street, with the latter having opened last month.
And Bleecker have transitioned over towards catering for Halal while still maintaining the quality of the beef that has cemented their reputation as one of the capital’s leading burger brands.
Although pork bacon is still on the menu, Bleecker have implemented strict practices and procedures in their kitchens to avoid cross-contamination.
With all the bacon being cooked off at the start of the day, the hot grill is then thoroughly washed with water and scrubbed down thrice in preparation for the exclusive cooking of the Halal beef thereafter.
Multi-award winning bangin’ Bleecker burgers
What immediately distinguishes Bleecker from the rest of the competition is that they are one of the few places left in London that continues to serve traditional patties (4oz/113g each) in opposition to the ubiquitous smashed version.
What’s more, when you consider the fact that their default position for cooking a beef patty is medium, Bleecker has all the ingredients in place for an epic burger.
So if you’re looking for an emphatic answer to the question of why Bleecker burgers are so bangin’, just try their most popular one: the Double Cheeseburger.
Given the sheer quality of the beef and its juicy pink interior, this burger definitely deserves being doubled-up rather than opting for a single patty.
While it may at first appear somewhat simple, comprising as it does onions, lettuce, house sauce, and blue cheese, the Blue Burger is far more than meets the eyes.
The strength of the blue cheese is so well adjudged that its mild piquancy marries effortlessly with the hint of sweetness from the house sauce to delivery a truly superb burger.
But if there’s one burger that captures the level of thought and hardwork put into perfecting their menu, then it has to be Bleecker’s vegetarian Symplicity Burger.
The depth of flavour in this ten-day fermented, deep fried, vegetable patty is staggeringly complex, with subtle earthy tones combining beautifully with the hints of sharpness and sweetness from the onions, lettuce, and house sauce.
Of course, Bleecker also offer a variety of hand-cut, skin-on fries, which can be smothered in either house, blue cheese or angry sauces, the latter guaranteeing plenty of that chilli-cum-smoky heat.
But their most popular is when the fries are generously covered in both the sweet house sauce and the angry hot sauce to ensure a dangerously addictive combination.
Be sure to pair your meal with any one of Bleecker’s lusciously thick and creamy soft-serve shakes: Cherry, with toschi amarena cherries; the Black & White, which mixes vanilla with premium chocolate; Oreo; Double Chocolate; and Vanilla.
With the Baker Street and Westfield branches operating as cashless venues, and given the uniqueness of their burgers, Bleecker is the place to hit as a matter of priority.
Simply put, you’ll want to question any claims of being a Halal burger connoisseur if you haven’t tried a Bleecker burger.
