Bronkos peri peri flame grilled chicken in Leicester impressesSPONSORED CONTENT HALAL STATUS Fully Halal (HMC)
While there’s plenty of them about, with some being more impressive than others, there’s one in Leicester that’s carved out a formidable reputation since opening in 2020.
It was, therefore, a foregone conclusion that peri peri chicken specialists Bronkos were always going to feature as part of FtLion’s memorable Leicester Food Tour 2023 (sponsored by HMC online meat purveyors Halal Editions).
Located on the long stretch of Narborough Road, this inviting 90-cover restaurant offers two private seating booths – curtained-off to provide that extra sense of intimacy – that can comfortably accommodate upto eight guests each.
While renowned for their marinades and flame-grilled chicken, there’s more to Bronkos than meets the eye, with menu items like chicken and hand-pressed beef burgers, grilled lamb chops, and these delicious dynamite prawns below, separating them from the crowd.
Bronkos is more than just a peri peri chicken brand
What makes Bronkos’ chicken so memorable is their finger-licking quartet of peri peri marinations: Lemon & Herb, Medium, Hot, and Extra Hot.
While their flame-grilled whole chicken is a ridiculously low £9.99, and the quarter just £3.49, it’s their selection of Platters that draws in the crowds.
With the Mixed (£21.99) and Family (£39.99) platters both coming with plenty of grilled wings and a number of sides, there’s also a Wings and Tenders platter (both £17.99), as well as a pair of Burger Combo platters, with the Super Combo comprising four burgers, four wings, and four sides.
Although recently introduced to the menu, Bronkos’ Lamb Chops at just £8.49 have quickly become one of the restaurant’s most sought-after dishes, thanks to a family recipe that sees these chops based in a secret marinade, before being grilled to a crisp and succulent finish.
The versatility of their menu is further demonstrated by a range of sandwiches that include half-a-dozen burgers, of which the Angus with its hand-pressed beef patties, and the Chicken Peri, are a must.
Otherwise, you’d want to consider one of their wraps, particularly the Chicken Peri Peri with tender cuts of grilled breast wrapped in a toasted tortilla, being a favourite with diners.
But perhaps the most understated, though no less flavorous thanks to the meticulous way in which it’s assembled, is Bronkos extraordinary Peri Chicken Caesar Salad.
With romaine lettuce dressed in a zingy caesar dressing, topped with a juicy piece of peri chicken, and garnished in plenty of cheese shavings and crunchy croutons, this truly captures the family-run restaurant’s endeavour in serving food that’s full of fresh flavour.
And if this small selection of highlighted items fails to prove why this place is currently such a hot attraction, then all that’s left is to head on down and find out for yourselves. You won’t be disappointed.
