One of the most recognised faces on Indian television will be soft opening his first restaurant in London tomorrow afternoon.

Celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor will be launching The Yellow Chilli in Wembley at 1pm having previously offered collection and delivery services during lockdown.

Located in Central Square, the good news is that this restaurant offers a fully Halal food menu, we’ve been informed, though alcohol is served on the premises.

Having been the face of the long-running cookery show Khana Khazana on Zee for some two decades, Mr Kapoor has been conferred the prestigious ‘Best Chef of India’ award by the Indian Government.

Ranked 34th in the Forbes list of top 100 Indian celebrities, he has a huge following with over six million Facebook followers and almost 6 million Youtube subscribers.

And his portfolio of restaurants is extensive too with Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khazana, Signature, Hong Kong and Options, while The Yellow Chilli, having first launched back in 2001, today boasts around 80 outlets across India and abroad.

As you can imaging then, The Yellow Chilli’s menu is quite something with dishes that include the signature Tomato Basil Shorba (Westernised desi tamatar ka soup), Lalla Mussa Dal (kali dal simmered for 36 hours) and the Gulab-e-Gulkand (rose petal compote stuffed gulab jamuns).

Other recommendations are the Shabnam ke Moti (cheesy mushroom caps), Lawrence Road Tandoori Murgh (tandoori chicken – Amritsar style), Nalli Rogan Josh (lamb shanks in a Kashmiri gravy), and Nizami Tarkari Biryani (flavourful vegetable biryani with a Nizami touch).

  • Beware of Quantity of food. We have just ordered take away Pav Bhaji £6.45. Quantity they provided less than baby portion. Believe me 6 months baby eat more than this. We had order in past but never had a quantity like this. I have sent my son to return it but they said that’s potion we provide for take away or eat in. They haven’t taken it back and also didn’t bother to refund it and my son left the take away parcel at restaurant. Can’t believe that this is the best chef Sanjeev Kapoor restaurant. Please beware of quantity if you are planning for take away or eat in. There are millions of other local restaurants with best food with good quantity.
