Coco brought its contemporary Turkish cuisine to London’s Tower Bridge last weekend with plenty of fanfair during its grand opening.

The restaurant appears to be a lavishly opulent one too with plenty of seating, much of which overlooks the River Thames.

Boasting  a non-alcoholic bar, transparency appears to be a key part of the new brand with a Halal certificate available on their website.

The venue offers a vibrant Anatolian menu too with plenty of modern exciting dishes that include the following:

  • Mixed Coco Shish – Cubes of Marinated Lamb and Chicken, Adana and Turkish Side Salad, Chili Sauce.
  • Coco Burger – Beef or Chicken, Gruyere Cheese, Iceberg Lettuce, Truffle Mayo, Caramelized Mushroom Mayo, Crispy Onions served with Skin-on Fries.
  • Forest Mushroom Orzotto – Barley Risotto, Oyster and Girolle Mushrooms, Goat Cheese Cream & Truffle Oil.

And then there’s their Redemption Menu that’s been developed “working with the best-in-class connoisseurs in the alcohol-free category”.

  • The non alcoholic drinks are massively over priced – over £26 for non alcoholic “wine”, over £160 for non alcoholic “champagne” – and they refuse to serve tap water which is illegal. Don’t recommend it sadly.

  • Affirms my view that London is looking to be Dubai on the Thames.

  • Not serving tap water is not illegal in restaurants. Unless they are fully licensed. On the basis its 0 alcohol its within the reams of the law.

Sadly Dubai has the free trade of alcohol for those who ish to aquire it. So it won’t be Dubai on the Thames either anytime soon. But good to see a restaurant business thriving without intoxicating the public and creating alcoholics
