Turkish restaurant Istanbul Kitchen opens in Bedford

HALAL STATUS Fully Halal

A new family-run Turkish restaurant has opened in the countryside town of Bedford in Bedfordshire.

Istanbul Kitchen is a fully Halal venue that specialises in grilled food and whose owner has informed us that all meat is being procured from HMC-approved meat suppliers.

The 80-seater eatery says it “prides itself on its menu being fresh, organic, with the food being prepared in a simple manner in order to satisfy their customers’ heart and soul”.

Istanbul Kitchen offers an extensive menu that’s made up of your traditional Turkish hot and cold mezzes, Turkish pizzas aka pides as they’re better known, wraps and soups.

While they offer a number of house specials, and grills comprised of your typical adanas, shishs and shawarmas, they also serve two variety of fishes, i.e. sea-bass and salmon, along with a 14oz porter house steak and a sirloin steak.

For dessert, the restaurant says it does a kunefe, whilst housing a cookies bar where you can grab fresh waffles, ice cream, mocktails and more.

While the restaurant was founded by the family since 2015, it’s only now that they’ve managed to find a location to make their dream a reality.

Istanbul Kitchen says it hopes to eventually branch out nationally across the country.
