Inaugural Malaysian Food & Culture Festival in Birmingham

The first Malaysian Food and Culture festival will kick off later today at 1pm in Birmingham’s Broadway Academy in Perry Barr.

Organised by the popular monthly Muslim Instashop Expo and Malay street food brand Satay Birmingham, the family-friendly market will showcase the food, culture and heritage of Malaysia.

With plenty of dining space including games and activities for the children until 7pm, the Halal street food will include Satay Birmingham whose founder Ika Muji.

Ika reportedly said: “This project is a community project to bring all the goodness of Malaysia under one roof. We have a large amount of Malaysians scattered around West Midlands, especially in Birmingham with a huge Muslim community, and we are here to bring unity into community.

“And I’m proud to be Malay as I care about my heritage and culture and inspire other people that we can be strong and independent. But also to raise awareness about Malaysia, that we are not just about noodles, but food brings people together.”
