Maple & Co opens third London store

HALAL STATUS Halal chicken; alcohol- & pork-free menu

Maple & Co opened its third London store this month in Pancras Square, the gateway to King’s Cross.

Following the success of Maple & Fitz and school-based Maple & CNM, Maple & King’s offers longer opening hours and more seating, and offers breakfast, lunches, weekend brunches, as well as pop-up supper clubs, a smoothie bar, and a gluten-free bake shop.

While the option of free-range chicken is Halal, founder and Le Cordon Bleu-trained Canadian chef, Adria Wu, has confirmed with FtL that “alcohol is not used in any of our dishes and we are pork-free!” At the time of publication, FtL weren’t able to ascertain whether the Turkey bacon was also Halal.

The gluten-free bake shop offers salted caramel brownies, ‘everything’ cookies and mini berry vegan muffins to snack on.

Porridge lovers have the choice of sweet or savoury for mid-week breakfasts, and can pick from maple porridge with toasted walnuts and chia seeds, spring onions and almonds or salted date caramel porridge with Medjool dates, sea salt, almond butter, banana and sesame. An array of eggs, avocado and smoked salmon on toast combinations sit alongside the porridge and granola bowls.

Staple salads the Julius Caesar and Mexican Standoff will remain all year round, with three additional seasonal options changing throughout the year.

An array of smoothies and cold-pressed juices offer a vitamin hit, each with their own function, such the immunity boosting Goldie Locks which blends their own raw pressed almond milk and fresh turmeric root and Yonce Lemonade to kick-start your metabolism with cayenne, lemon, honey and alkaline water.

A first for Maple & Co, the new brunch menu has Maple & King’s opening during the weekends, making the perfect spot for leisurely dining with friends or a pit stop to refuel.

Superfood cocktails including a cold-pressed beetroot mojito and raw coconut matcha colada complement dishes such as gluten-free rhubarb pomegranate oat pancakes with coconut yoghurt and maple vegan butter, or poached eggs and beetroot smoked salmon with cauliflower hotcake and charred kale.

A mezzanine, seating up to 33 covers, overlooks Pancras Square and an al fresco suntrap seating up to 12 in warmer weather.

Maple & Fitz is located on Mortimer Street, Fitzrovia near Oxford Circus.
