Free burgers for a year at Popeyes launch in Brighton tomorrow

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen will be celebrating its debut in Brighton tomorrow morning by awarding the first three people in the queue free chicken sandwiches for a whole year.

With queuing starting from 9am on North Street, the store will also be giving away free merch and free chicken sandwiches to the first 50 in the queue on the day.

Recently, Popeyes announced that drive-thrus will be part of its future plans and are expecting to open 20 restaurants in 2023 which includes Reading, Croydon and Cambridge, with sites in Rotherham, Cardiff and Glasgow early next year.

Founded in 1972 by Al Copeland in Louisiana, USA, the international brand now boasts over 2,700 restaurants, with all of its venues in the UK offering a fully Halal food menu.

“Sourcing UK Sourced, Red Tractor chicken”, the brand’s website states: “Everyone is welcome at our table. All of our chicken is Halal and we have certification from the Halal Monitoring Board.”

But FtLion has been informed that Popeyes’ breakfast menu is not Halal, with a representative clarifying: “We don’t serve chicken at breakfast, but our chicken served with our daytime menu remains Halal.”
