Halal Food Guru’s must-try restaurants in Orlando, Florida

By Halal Food Guru

Tourism to Florida has skyrocketed in the last few years. Many Muslims are visiting the “Sunshine State” attracted by the warm weather and the natural beauty of the beaches and State Parks.

Specifically, the family-friendly attractions, like Disney and Universal Studios, are a big draw to the city of Orlando.

After a long day of enjoying the theme parks, visitors hungry for some Halal food have the option of visiting the many restaurants in the Greater Orlando Area. Thankfully, there are a variety to cater to all tastes, cuisines and budgets.

Here’s a good start for you to explore “the City Beautiful”. I’ve focused this list on Muslim-owned businesses who offer fully Halal menus.

O'Town Burger N Wings

Family-owned by brothers, O’Town Burger N Wings is a fast food joint that opened in 2016.

Using charcoal grilled Halal Angus Beef, they have changed the Halal burger game in Orlando, earning them the top spot in my list of Top 5 Halal Burgers in Orlando. Located about 20 minutes away from the tourist district and theme parks, it is well worth the drive.

Oh My Gyro (OMG!)

Oh My Gyro! (OMG!) is a family-owned restaurant that also opened in 2016. The family moved from New York City and brought the Halal cart food craze with them. You can order Chicken or Gyro over rice and top it off with a hefty dose of White Sauce.

The food quality and service are consistently excellent. They have also expanded their menu to include NY steaks, and grilled chicken and burgers among other things.

They are not associated with the famous Halal Guys, which expanded to Orlando near UCF in late 2017; but they do bring back the nostalgia of “the Big City” streets, with their atmosphere and restaurant décor.

Cozee Café

With indoor and outdoor seating capable of accommodating large parties, this Halal eatery provides American classics with an Indian and East African twist.

Their culinary creativity has even earned them a spot on my Top 5 list of Best Chicken Sandwiches in Orlando.

After the meal, you can indulge in some of the desserts they offer. The Ferrero Roche Milkshake is definitely worth the calorie splurge.

From beaches to theme parks, Florida has much to offer to visitors. And exploring all these attractions can easily cause one to build up an appetite. But, with so many Halal restaurants, you’re sure to find something to suit your needs wherever you are in the city.
