Tariq Halal help feed Stratford homeless every month
Award-winning Halal butchers Tariq Halal has been involved in helping to feed the local homeless every month in east London.
Soon after opening its state-of-the-art store in Stratford Shopping Centre, the brand teamed up with local NGO group Inades (Initiative of the Advancement of Ethical Standards).
Tariq Halal told FtLion: “There’s a massive homeless problem in Stratford and we always wanted to give something back to the community more than just the services we’re known for.”
Since opening in 2021, the franchise store has been committed to donating produce required to help feed the needy.
Volunteers from Inades have been coming together for 2-hours every first Monday of the month at 7pm to setup tables inside Stratford Shopping Centre.
With fresh food cooked on the day, anyone looking for a hot meal is given the choice of a meat or vegetarian option with dishes that can include Chicken Pilau Rice.
Describing the initiative as a “huge success”, Tariq Halal says it will continue to do what it can to help the locals of Straford.
