Voters nominating for their favourite restaurants and takeaways at this year’s Asian Curry Awards will also have the chance of winning a pair of VIP tickets worth £600.

With the gala dinner and awards ceremony taking place at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Sunday 17th November, there will be six pairs of tickets to be won.

This year’s event will also mark an important u-turn recently made by the Government with the reintroduction of the so-called ‘vindaloo visas’.

With two curry restaurants closing each week, against a backdrop of rising costs, skills shortages and Brexit uncertainty, making the Asian Curry Awards’ shortlist can be a vital boost for a curry house.

According to Yawar Khan, chairman of the Asian Catering Federation (ACF) which organises the awards: “Having successfully lobbied government for the removal of the infamous ‘Takeaway Clause’ on the official ‘Shortage Occupation List’, which prevented top restaurants with a takeout side to their business, from recruiting the best chefs from around the world, the future of the sector now looks much brighter.”

Mr Khan has also urged restaurateurs to up their game in terms of culinary standards, customer service and marketing, in order to “thrive and survive” in the tough economic environment.

Bangladeshi, Burmese, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Middle Eastern, Pakistani, Filipino, Singaporean, Sri Lankan, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese restaurants and takeaways are eligible to enter.

While finalists will be visited by a panel of judges, curry lovers can vote for their favourite Asian restaurants and takeaways at www.asiancurryawards.com.
