It’s been a long time in coming, but an impressively large Pakistani restaurant will celebrate its grand opening tomorrow in east London’s Gants Hill.

Although information is currently scarce regarding Wah Bey on Cranbrook Road with not even an launch time, what we know for certain is that one of its co-owners is also behind former-NDO’s Piri Piri in Ilford.

While it appears as though little expense has been spared in kitting out this double-fronted property, the move appears to be a shrewd one given the competition they’ll be facing from long-standing Sahara Grill next door.

According to their website, “Wah Bey is the sub-continental way of saying WOW” – a concept that was first envisioned by “two friends (Tariq & Sarfraz)” way back in 2016 and “is the culmination of years of research”.

The pair further revealed on Instagram: “While out in Pakistan, we came across amazing hand-crafted furniture. The creativity, skill and dedication to their craft was inspiring. Meeting these amazing people who make them reminded us to stay true to what we wanted to do and to be the best we can be.

“We truly want to deliver that authentic Pakistani food to everyone who walks through the doors at Wah Bey. We will craft our food and coat every customer with amazing hospitality that you can only find in Pakistan. We can’t wait to meet you all and share our food discovery.”

With no menu to go by, what we also know is that this is “a family restaurant offering authentic Pakistani grilled food without compromise”.
