Popular African restaurant brand Afrikana Kitchen from the Midlands will be making its London debut as soon as tier-4 restrictions are lifted.

The eatery will be opening for dining-in service on Kingsland High Street in Dalston at the same time as its Leicester branch on Charles Street.

“Our Dalston and Leicester store will hopefully open soon in the beginning of the New Year, depending on if there are anymore lockdowns [sic],” Afrikana Kitchen said.

More importantly, Afrikana Kitchen also confirmed with FtLion: “We are a fully certified Halal place; all our meals are Halal.”

The restaurant, which began its journey in 2018 in the small village of Aldridge, will be serving authentic homecooked African-inspired dishes.

The menu is an assortment of wraps, chickens, burgers, and Specials, with dishes like their inhouse ‘We “Goat” Your Back’, as well as ‘Island Fish and Chips’ with deep fried fresh cod coated in their Afrikana seasoning.

Otherwise there’s some impressive sharing platters for 2-3 people with a trio of options inspired by food from Kenya, Botswana, and Ethiopia.

With established restaurants in Birmingham, Derby, Cardiff, and Blackburn, they will be looking to open further sites in Barkingside, Stoke-On-Trent, and Middlesborough in 2021.
