Botanical Afternoon Tea at 5* London Marriott Hotel, Park LaneAfter being to many afternoon teas, which all consist of pretty much the same thing, what a pleasant treat it was coming to London Marriot Park Lane for their splendid Botanical Afternoon Tea at the hotel’s Lanes of London restaurant for £32 per person.

Set in pristine heritage, the Marriot have kept up their class and presented this wonderful tea – served daily from 12-5pm, and with a Halal option available at request when booking.

From the moment you enter the grand building, with marble floors and magnificent lighting, you are swiftly taken to their lush dining area, with great, glass windows looking out towards the streets of London.

Botanical Afternoon Tea at 5* London Marriott Hotel, Park LaneWhile the white jasmine and hibiscus teas – served as they are as palate-cleansers – went down a treat before eating, it’s the English breakfast that’s always by far my favourite!

I’m a fan for good tasting savory, and the sandwiches consisted of: beetroot bread with turkey, delicious rosemary prawn, and an exquisite truffle and Gyure cheese.

The beautifully adorned patisseries were designed with such love – from carefully crafted roses and pistachio filled macaroons, to traditional, zesty batternburg, as well as lychee and rose filled mini cones.

Pastries – Pineapple, coconut, mango flower pot, chocolate soil; raspberry, almond Battenberg; Madagascan vanilla scented chocolate mousse tart. Sweet Treats – Pistachio, cherry macaroon; white chocolate, pink rose, lychee cone

And the special was a little terra-cotta pot filled with an orange creme and chocolate biscuit crumble. The best bit was the ‘plant pot’ which, being made of chocolate, was definitely a sensation when broken apart with the spoon.

The service from arrival was 5-star; and I took the details of ‘Vivian’, who was serving us, to give him a 5-star review for his efforts. He explained everything in detail; gave us attention whenever required; and really knew everything about all the different teas, which were on offer.

This is one of those indulgent pleasures that can either be gifted to a loved one, or enjoyed as a treat on a Sunday afternoon, or just because you want to. Why not give it a go? Perfect with spring around the corner!
