Persian Food with a View of the Thames at Narenj

By Thia Tapadar

Narenj in Kingston-upon-Thames is essentially known for two things: Persian cuisine and a beautiful view of the River Thames.

Upon our arrival on an extremely hot afternoon, the restaurant’s staff were very welcoming and offered us a lovely outdoor table with a wonderful view of the river.

The menu has a good variety of your typical hot and cold Persian starters and mains.

We decided to go for the mixed grill for two.

Mixed Grill (2 persons) £23.95 – Two Skewers Of Mince Lamb, One Skewer Of Lamb Fillet, One Skewer of Boneless Chicken, Served with Saffron Rice or Bread

As you can see, the large plate was presented with four skewers and a side each, and seemed more than sufficient for two.

More importantly, the selection of meats turned out very tender and juicy, while the chicken was cooked to perfection.

Everything tasted really well spiced, with great aromas, and in the end we were left full up and thoroughly satisfied.

Mojito £3.45

More impressively, Narenj was even kind enough to go the extra yard by making us a mocktail each despite it not being an option on their menu.

How accomodating is that? Absolutely superb service.

With a very relaxing and peaceful dining experience looking out towards the Thames, I honestly cannot fault anything at this restaurant.

In addition, they serve shisha upstairs. But, it’s all about that gorgeous view outside.
