One of the UK’s most decorated Muslim chefs is back with “a fresh new Indian takeaway kitchen”, but not like any takeaway you’re likely to encounter.

Multi-award winning Chef Abdul Yaseen soft launched his latest venture Barbers Bazaar yesterday in north London’s Crouch End near Muswell Hill.

With “an Indian food concept inspired by the ancient food markets run by Barber’s families”, there’s going to be plenty of tandoori grills cooked fresh from his clay oven.

Having won the British BBQ championships and the Canape Cup at Square Meal Venues and Events three years on the trot, it’s virtually guaranteed that his menu will have plenty of charcoal grilled dishes.

The Chef appears to be out to impress too with dishes like the Slow Cooked Pulled Beef Brisket and a humongously long “Maharajah” Seekh Kebab that’ll be perfect for celebrating National Kebab Day on 10 July.

Other dishes teasingly unveiled include the slow cooked Haleem with freshly baked bread; “a completely new level of Dal Sev Papdi Chaat”; the traditional fresh shrimp Bengali dish ‘Chingri Shorshe’; and a Caramelised Milk Dumpling.

This latest venture is part of the chef’s newly launched AY Hospitality which aims at providing “comprehensive business support” not limited to the food and drinks sector.

Chef Abdul Yaseen was originally part of the founding team of iconic London restaurant The Cinnamon Club, before helping to open Cinnamon Kitchen and Anise as Head Chef in 2008.

In 2015, he decided to go solo with the hugely impressive Darbaar in Chelsea – one of only three restaurants to be rated a perfect 5/5 by Halal food website Feed the Lion.

In 2016, not only was he recognised as the British Curry Awards Best Newcomer, but also appeared on BBC’s cookery show Celebrity Master Chef UK, before bagging the London Curry Awards Chef of the Year in 2018.

Currently, there’s 20% off the first order at Barbers Bazaar when presenting an exclusive flyer in the shop.
