The term ‘Gong cha’ originates from a practice in ancient China whereby the best teas from around the realm would be offered to the Emperor as a means of tribute.

International beverage brand Gong Cha has made its Nottingham debut in the trendy Exchange Arcade shopping centre.

What makes this 15-cover branch all the more unique is that its franchisee is also one of the owners of the popular fully Halal smokehouse Pitmaster in Manchester (review coming soon).

Said co-owner also boasts a Gong Cha branch directly opposite Pitmaster on Wilmslow Road, which is better known as Manchester’s ‘Curry Mile’.

As for the Taiwanese drinks company, then this was founded in 2006 and now has around 1500 stores worldwide including sites throughout Asia, USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and now England.

The brand specialises in providing “natural, healthy, freshly brewed tea and beverages with most drinks’ sweetness levels being able to be tailored to individual preferences”.
