Having only recently launched two new food brands, the owner of London’s iconic Guanabana is about to launch a third.

After opening The Hoodwood and Cafe Mama & Sons, owner and restaurateur Omar Shah is preparing to launch Belly on Thursday 8th May.

Drawing on his Filipino heritage, this latest 35-cover restaurant on Kentish Town Road is going to revolve around wood-fire cooking.

“Our cooking is built around wood and smoke, drawing on influences from Paris and the Philippines,” Belly’s Instagram account revealed, with dishes like:

  • Steak tartar with cured yolk and nori seasoned crisps • Pandesal cod tempura slider with ikura tartar • Wagyu picanha with peppercorn and liver sauce.

Omar has informed FtLion: “Yes, all meats will be Halal. There will be alcohol sold on the premises,” before clarifying that although one sauce currently contains alcohol: “I’m trying to source a non-alcoholic alternative.”

Omar’s Caribbean restaurant Guanabana, as well as the two aforementioned new openings, are all located on the same stretch of road as Belly.
