Patri serves unique authentic Kashmiri set menu this Ramadan

If there’s one thing #FtLionAwards Best Curry House 2019 is renowned, it’s that London restaurant Patri boasts an inexhaustible supply of creative juices.

In fact, if anything, covid has pushed owner Puneet Wadhwani and his team to innovate in ways they perhaps wouldn’t have otherwise dreamed.

Patri’s Kashmiri Ramadan Set Menu 2021

Having only recently launched two exciting dark kitchen concepts in The Biryani House, with its staggering variety of a dozen biryanis, and the hugely popular Masala Chai & Bun Kebab House; they’ve now prepared a mind-blowing Ramadan menu.

Known for taking inspiration from cuisines across India, Patri has utilised both the skills and knowledge of Chef Subhash Mehra, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, to produce an authentic Kashmiri-inspired menu along with a few of the brand’s well-known signature dishes.

This exclusive set menu isn’t just available for collection through their website’s Click & Collect option, as well as delivery via Deliveroo, but with limited outdoor seating at both their branches in Hammersmith and Northfields, the food can also be enjoyed al fresco throughout the blessed month.

Simple in nature, but driven by the aromatic flavours so quintessential of the region of Kashmir, here’s Patri’s Journey To Kashmir Ramadan 2021:

STARTERS

Ancient Persia’s Aab Gosht

Ab Gosht £4.95 (per piece) – Slow cooked meat stew packed with flavours of various spices, predominantly fennel, with major influence from ancient Persia.

Aloo Kachalu Chaat £8.95 – Smartly presented on a dainty shovel is the Aloo Kachaloo Chat. A combination of boiled potatoes and sweet potatoes all tossed together in a tangy chaat masala and homemade finger-licking mint sauce. An irresistible chaat!

Note: Both these dishes will only be available this Thursday 22nd April.

MIXED GRILL

Wazwaan Gushtaba £14.95 – Popular lamb-based delicacy prepared with lamb and spices shaped into balls and cooked in flavourful and delicious yoghurt gravy. One of the most beautiful delicacies from Kashmiri cuisine.

Kashmiri Rogan Gosht £17.95 – A delicious flavourful lamb curry brought into Kashmir from Persia by the Mughals. As the signature dish of Kashmir – no celebration feast is complete without it – this lamb curry is made with spices like fennel seeds and dry ginger. Spicy and loaded with yummy flavours.

Lamb Shalgham Gosht £19.95 – Royal preparation of tender lamb slow cooked to create a fiery spicy red curry made with chilli and garlic, all slow cooked with sweet turnips.

Wazwaan Gushtaba £14.95 – Popular lamb-based delicacy prepared with lamb and spices shaped into balls and cooked in flavourful and delicious yoghurt gravy. One of the most beautiful delicacies from Kashmiri cuisine. NOTE: This dish will be available from next week.

Khatte Baingan £10.95 – Khatte Baingan is a very popular and delicious aubergine delicacy served throughout the country, especially Kashmir. It’s a spiced vegan eggplant dish that offers sweet and sour flavours courtesy of the jaggery and tamarind.

Mughlai Tiffin (serves 2) £24.95 or Kashmiri Thali (serves 2) £34.95

Double Butter Chicken £12.50  – Chef’s signature preparation with smoky tandoori chicken simmered in a tomato cashew nut and butter sauce topped with fenugreek, honey and ginger julienne.

Daal Makhani £10.50 – Black lentils slow cooked overnight on the tandoor, then stored for 8-hours in butter and tomato sauce. A tadka, or tempering, of dry roasted spices and cream is done before serving.
